Osteopathic Medicine StudentsĪs of February 2012, all COCA accredited AACOM member colleges with rising fourth year classes have joined VSAS as home schools. Access to the Health and Wellness Center is available for a monthly fee. The metro (subway) system has a stop on the GW campus at Foggy Bottom. Parking is provided on campus at a discounted rate. Please bring your white coat with you as well as your school ID we will provide ID access for the School of Medicine & Health Sciences (Ross Hall), the GW Hospital, and the Himmelfarb Library. The required application fee is $75.00 (due upon acceptance). Students accepted for electives are allowed a maximum of 1 four week rotation. We are able to accept students from those schools only. We have exchange contracts and/or affiliation agreements with a limited number of international medical schools. International students may inquire about electives through our Office of International Medicine Programs. This opportunity intends to enhance students' exposure to careers in academic medicine and to recruit students with a particular interest in the care of the under-served. The Visiting Clerkship Program sponsored by the SMHS Office of Diversity and Inclusion (VCP-ODI), in collaboration with the Medical Faculty Associates of the George Washington University, provides support for fourth-year medical students with an interest in health equity, diversity, and inclusion to participate in a variety of visiting clerkships. Confirmation of acceptance for an elective rotation will be sent on a rolling basis. The application period for academic year 2023-2024 will open April 1, 2023. The application period for academic year 2022-2023 electives is currently closed. Verification of HIPAA and OSHA training, ACLS or BLS certification, and malpractice coverage at $1 million per occurrence and $3 million aggregate should be provided by your medical school. Proof of up-to-date COVID-19 Vaccinations.They must be in good academic standing after completing their core rotations. LCME medical school or COCA accredited AACOM member colleges. Students who take an elective must be enrolled in their senior year of medical school at a U.S. Please be advised there are limited spaces available. The acceptance will be on a rolling basis.
